Brian McBride may or may not need some sort of therapy. Regardless, with 25 prompts on topics both easy and tough, we play psychiatrist to get a candid look inside the mind of the 29-year-old Mr. Popularity from the Columbus Crew, who has come back from a string of odd injuries to claim one of two hotly-contested starting forward spots on the U.S. Men's National Team.

A native of Chicago suburb Arlington Heights, McBride has been lucky to stay close to home (or at least in the Midwest) for most of his soccer life. A Hermann and MAC Award-winner and school leading scorer at Saint Louis University before becoming a perennial MLS All-Star and spending his entire domestic pro career with the Crew up the road in Ohio, the veteran of France ‘98 now looks to take his has aerial act to Korea/Japan for this summer's mother of all soccer tournaments. McBride has sharpened his game of late, to the tune of four goals and an MVP trophy in the five games on the way to the 2002 Gold Cup championship and two assists in the team's 4-0 win over Honduras on March 2. The only reason you didn't see the 6'0" striker mixing it up with Cannavaro in Sicily was because McBride made a huge stride off the field by getting married to long-time girlfriend Dina in Chicago on Feb. 16.
