It is hot outside. So hot you should be staying indoors with your new best friend, the air conditioner. But don’t totally ignore your usual best friend – the TV. Here are some games to catch while you keep cool.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 19 What: USL All-Stars vs. Sheffield Wednesday Station: Fox Soccer Channel Time: 8 p.m. ET Why: A great chance to see the best of what USL offers. Plus, they’re going up against Sheffield Wednesday, which means the first chance for a number of people to see American Frank Simek, who was once with Arsenal. The 21-year-old defender signed a three-year deal with the Owls in 2005.
THURSDAY, JULY 20 What: Colorado vs. Chivas USA Station: MLS Direct Kick Time: 8 p.m. ET Why: Colorado will be looking to pull away from Chivas USA before the All-Star break and a win here could really help the Rapids do that as they also have a few games in hand.
What: Portland vs. Seattle (USL) Station: Fox Soccer Channel Time: 11 p.m. ET Why: If you’re going to catch some USL action you can’t do much better than this northwest rivalry.
SATURDAY, JULY 22 What: Columbus vs. Los Angeles Station: ESPN2 Time: 4 p.m. ET Why: Columbus and Los Angeles are both second from last in their respective divisions. The winner gets a boost that could help them swing the pendulum before the All-Star break. The loser has to consider it may be in last place going with half the season already over.
What: Chicago vs. D.C. United Station: MLS Direct Kick Time: 8:30 p.m. ET Why: D.C. is on a roll. Chicago is just trying to keep up with the division leaders. Always a good match-up, this will be the first time the two will meet at Chicago’s new home, Toyota Park. Expect Chicago to be fired up for this one. |
